Recipes for Self-Love!
The Power Bath
The bathtub is a wonderful way to unplug from daily life and nurture yourself. Here is my recipe for an awesome power bath.
Begin with a clean bathroom and bathtub. Fill the tub with comfortably hot water and add sea salts, Epson salts and/or essential oils such as lavender or rose.
Light several scented candles around the tub and bathroom. Burn sage or incense if you wish to clear the negative energy away.
Soft music is optional. Sometimes I just like silence but if there is noise in the house or you are close to a busy street you may want to put on some meditative music.
Sit in the bathtub with the water to your shoulders, if possible. Take several long deep breaths and allow the cares of the day go. Just allow yourself to sink into the warm water and release all cares and tensions.
Stay as long as you like. Refresh the water with more hot water if need be. I sometimes stay in the tub as long as an hour and a half. Sure I’m a little prunish when I get out, but very relaxed. If you like have a cup of hot herbal tea or water with lemon while in the tub.
Sacred Breathing
Prepare a sacred space by lighting candles, putting on meditative music and get into a very comfortable position on the floor on pillows or in a comfortable chair. Begin by taking a long deep breath through your nose and holding that breath in for a count of five and then let it out through your mouth slowly until you can feel all the air being released.
Continue this process ten, twenty, thirty times or more. Each time you breathe in imagine breathing in pure white healing light and visualize it spreading throughout your entire body.
When you exhale imagine pushing out all negativity, all tension, all bad thoughts, all cares, all worries. Just see all unwanted energy melting away. Continue breathing in that healing white light and exhaling all the sludge and mud.
You may begin to feel light, a bit disconnected from your body and this is O.K. Just go with it and continue the process of breathing until you are very calm and relaxed.
Just hang out in this space for a time. Allow yourself to day dream and fantasize about all the good things you are creating in your life.
