Hypnotherapy and Self Hypnosis

Lose Weight, Stop Smoking and Heal Pain and Disease!

 

hypnotherapy for weight lossHypnotherapy is a powerful way to influence the subconscious mind in a way that will help you to achieve your goals, whatever they are. It is very popular and widely used in the health fields as a tool to help people lose weight, stop smoking and heal pain and disease.

I was certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1988 after taking a course with the late famous Charles Tebbitts. He had successfully managed to recover most of his functions after a terrible stroke that left him completely paralyzed on one side. When I met Charles he was walking, talking and using both arms and legs. At the time I met him he was somewhere around 92 years old.

It was my ex-fiance that led me to Hypnotherapy. I was in my early twenties at the time and he was a three pack a day cigarette smoker. I told him I would never live with him when he had a habit like that and suggested to him he try hypnosis for smoking. He found a clinical hypnotherapist in the area and within one session he was a non-smoker. One session cured a three pack a day smoker.

Not only did he stop smoking but he brought home the information of the school his hypnotherapist graduated from and told me "you would be good at this!" So I followed up and was enrolled within the month.

I went on to graduate and open my own practice in clinical hypnotherapy where I worked primarily with hypnotherapy for weight loss and smoking. I also worked a lot with depression and emotional issues.

The effects hypnotherapy had on my clients were amazing. Smokers did quit in one to three sessions and my weight loss clients were able to conquer their addictions to certain foods and ways of eating that prevented them from having the results they were looking for in their lives.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

When you enter into a state of hypnosis you are in fact going into the realm of the imagination. Your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. It is your subconscious mind that is the seat of your emotions, your habitual conduct and your involuntary body functions to name a few. So if you have issues with your health, behavior patterns, addictions or emotions, they need to be addressed on the subconscious level.

If you actually go into the imaginary realm and see yourself as a non-smoker or imagine yourself to be at your goal weight your subconscious will take what is imagined as truth. Therefore it will direct its energies at creating the imaginary circumstances.

If you are overweight and continue to visit the realm of the imagination to see yourself at your goal weight you will naturally begin changing your lifestyle to reflect the new slim you. You may find yourself eating differently, exercising more and a number of other things you weren't doing before and as a result the numbers on the scale will change.

Even someone who has been diagnosed with a disease can have excellent results in healing disease through hypnotherapy. The key is to spent plenty of time in the imaginary realm visualizing yourself as completely healthy in all ways. You do not give attention or energy to the dis-ease within your body but rather see your body as dis-ease free or healthy!

What If I Can't Be Hypnotized?

Anyone can be hypnotized, although each individual may vary in the level of depth they achieve. Hypnosis is merely a deep state of relaxation which is achieved through suggestion. The suggestion process can be very quick or a long slow process in which it is suggested that the subject relax every area of their body, one limb at a time.

When the mind and the body is relaxed the subconscious mind is receptive to suggestion. We can suggest many different realities at this time. We can suggest that you are now a non-smoker, we can suggest that you are now at your ideal weight of 130 pounds, we can suggest that you are now earning in excess of $100,000 per year, that you are now perfectly healed and healthy.

Hypnotherapy itself comes from the combination of hypnosis and therapy. We take the client into a state of deep relaxation and actually have a therapy session involving dialogue between the client and therapist at this time. While in a deep state of relaxation the client has much greater access to repressed memories from their entire life, even pre-verbal and pre-birth. In fact this is where past-life regression comes from. It is suggested that if, indeed we have lived before this incarnation we have memories of our other lives stored away somewhere.

Although in my own practice I have focused mostly on this life I know of many therapists who have excellent results doing past-life regression. In fact I have done hypnotheraphy sessions with clients, when asked to go back to source of the problem spontaneously started describing a life in the 1800's or further back. It was just as much of a surprise to me as to them.

In working with hypnotherapy for weight loss clients I have often regressed my clients back to a time of a forgotten trauma such as an incident of incest or sexual molestation in childhood. The weight problem was actually the way my client protected herself from unwanted sexual attention. The fat, in a sense, was being utilized as a layer of protection. Once we processed through the trauma I could help my client come up with healthier ways of protecting herself so the layer of fat was no longer necessary.

How Many Sessions is Normally Needed

It is really difficult to tell someone how many sessions of hypnotherapy they will need before having the desired results in their lives. Each individual is very different and so are there needs.

In my training I learned that repetition is another very effective way of reaching the subconscious mind. So in hypnotherapy we suggest repeated use of a hypnotherapy audio program to more deeply ingrain the new programming. For example I can have a very effective session with a client to help them make a deep subconscious committment to themselves as a non-smoker, however once they get home they can actually re-program themselves to be a smoker if they allow their thoughts to dwell too much on it. That is why I always sent my clients home with a tape or CD to reinforce the suggestions.

Audio hypnosis programs can be very effective in helping the client achieve his/her goals if used properly. That means the client needs to make a commitment to listening to the tape or CD on a regular basis sometimes as much as once in the morning and once at night, initially. This keeps the subconscious reinforced with the powerful new reality that is being created.

Working with smoking is much quicker than weight loss because with weight loss we often we do a lot of deep emotional work around weight issues before the client is ready to release the excess weight. We may have to do deeper work with addictions, self-esteem and body-image. I normally recommend 3-6 sessions or more to my weight loss clients. If they can't afford to make this commitment right now I recommend they start with an audio hypnosis program such as Slim Imaging.

Self Hypnosis

Self Hypnosis is another way you can work to achieve your goals. Just allow yourself to become very relaxed and make suggestions in the present tense as if you have already achieved your goals. An example would be "I am now earning in excess of $100,000 per year! I earn this money easily and effortlessly doing work I love to do!"

You never want to say "I want to earn or I am going to earn because you are suggesting to your subconsious mind that your goal is in the future rather than now. If in your imaginary reality you are already earning your ideal income, you see yourself loving your work, earning excellent money, buying a new home, or a new car or traveling and really enjoying your life, you are, in a sense, painting a picture for your subconscious of the new reality you are creating. This way your subconscious mind works for you to create the reality you are imagining.

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy is one of the most powerful ways to influence your subconscious mind and create the change you desire in your life. I would suggest using it in conjunction with any other program you might be using for healing and change, whether it be a diet, a health program or a program to change your behavior or reality in any way.
